Bob is a second term member and former Vice-Chair of the DIA Board of Management. Bob has served as Noble Grand and Vice Grand of the Independent Order of Oddfellows and sat on the board of Triple Link Senior Citizens Homes North Bay Inc. as Treasurer and Vice-Chair.

Bob is an enthusiastic ambassador for Downtown North Bay. He has lived and worked in the city most of his life and opened his own store, Alger Furniture and Appliances on McIntyre Street in 1986.

Rebecca Riesen

The Swiss Pastry Chef
Rebecca Riesen, together with her husband Urs, have owned and operated The Swiss Pastry Chef for almost 5 years. The last two and a half years the business has been thriving in the downtown core. Before opening the business, Rebecca spent several years in restaurant management. Rebecca, along with sitting on the DIA, is also the chairperson of The North Bay Downtown Farmers' Market. She has a vision for a prosperous downtown and waterfront!

Brenda Walsh
DIA Beautification Committee Chair
Active Running & Therapy Centre
Brenda Walsh has lived in North Bay since 1991, and opened Active Running & Therapy Centre with co-owner Lisa Despres (also a Registered Physiotherapist) in July 2005.

Brenda is a Registered Physiotherapist, having graduated from McGill University 1978. She also brings 14 years of experience as a physiotherapist for the North Bay General Hospital

She enjoys sharing her love of running with newcommers and experienced runners alike, and is proud have run 8 marathons, including Boston.

Kathleen Cutsey
DIA Promotions Committee Chair
A Sharper Image Hair Design
Kathleen Cutsey has been involved in the hair industry since 1982, she was born in Chicago Illinois where she completed her licensing at the Pivot Point International Academy.

Kathleen has always strived in continuing education and upgrading her knowledge and skills by attending various seminars, workshops and advanced academy programs including business management, personal skills and motivational techniques.

Moving to North Bay in 1994 Kathleen quickly earned a clientele and started A Sharper Image as a home based business in 1996. Wanting to be part of the business community Kathleen moved her salon to 156 Oak St in the year 2000, 6 years later and the Downtown on the rise, she is excited to be a part of the progression.

Kathleen has maintained a proud roll in helping with the community by generously supporting many fund raising organizations including , The Lung Association Festival of Tree's, Rotary Club , Kiwanis, Laurentian Ski Hill, North Bay Down Hill Race Team, Police Association, numerous Hospital events and The North Bay District and Chamber of Commerce. She has been a member and a supporter of The Chamber of Commerce since 2000 and also is a member of the North Bay Women in Business networking group.

Recently Kathleen achieved her Real Estate license with the Ontario Real Estate Association. She is going to be assisting one of North Bay's top agents while continuing to run and operate her salon which has a very talented team of individuals on board.

Kathleen's primary goal for her position on the Board of Management with the DIA is to bring a fresh, energetic, positive attitude to the group and to be a positive, informative ambassador for our very important Downtown North Bay.

Bernard Penney
Penney & Company Design & Marketing Strategies
Bernard has been employed in the Marketing and Design sector since 1980 and is presently Creative Director of his own firm, Penney & Company Design & Marketing Strategies since 1992. Bernard has 23 years’ experience in the creation of images, campaigns, literature, displays and advertising for many of the businesses and agencies in North Bay. His firm’s client base expands throughout the north, to the south and most recently to clients in Manitoba and British Columbia.

Penney & Company Design has grown with the industry to include new media in its scope of services, and with that, presently employs five persons full time. The firm’s philosophy has served its clients well over the years offering products, services and creative solutions designed to grow his clients’ businesses, and his own. His willingness to lend his expertise to his community is demonstrated through his extensive involvement in local boards, initiatives and service groups.

Bernard is presently a Director of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce, a position he has held for all but one year since 1994, Director on the board for Yes! Employment Services and is also Chair of its Youth Training Trust Fund, acts as an advisor to the Graphic Communications Program at Canadore College and is a very active member of the Rotary Club of North Bay.

His company supports numerous local charities and fund raising events through corporate sponsorships including The North Bay Lung Association’s Festival of Trees and Half Marathon and The Helping Hands Symposium orchestrated by the North Bay & District Health Unit. Over the years, professional services have been designed and donated to groups by Penney & Company including logos for the Aquatic Centre, North Bay General Hospital Foundation, Warriors of Hope, The Lung Association’s Festival of Trees and Half Marathon events, Partners in Trauma Prevention, Partners Toward Safer Communities (PTSC) and the 2001 Canadian Cross-Country Skiing Championships.

Today, Bernard’s focus is primarily to cultivate new business and retain and build on existing client relations for his design team. Extensive industry and community contacts and knowledge of regional and municipal affairs blends with the counseling and creative development he provides when designing marketing strategies for his clients.

Bernard is a graduate of the Graphic Design Program at Canadore College, Recipient of the 1999 Lung Association of Ontario Meritorious Award and the 1996 North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce Betty Alcorn Memorial Award.

Mario Domingue
Florist Bouquet d'Amour
Mario Domingue moved to North Bay in 1990 while in the Canadian Armed Forces where he served for over 13 years. Upon retirement from the Forces in 1996 Mario made the decision to stay in North Bay, making it his "new hometown."

Mario moved back to Quebec for a few years where he and his partner opened their flower shop, Florist Bouquet d'Amour, but North Bay always remained his hometown, hence the move back to North Bay in September 2005.

Mario has over 25 years experience in Customer Service in various trades as well as organizing a variety of activities for various not-for-profit
organizations.

Mike Anthony
Councillor, City of North Bay
Mike was elected to his third term with city council in November 2006. He jumped at the chance to serve on the DIA board. He has worked in the downtown since 1997, when he was on the air at the old MIX100 radio studios on Oak Street. Anthony is currently employed at the Main Street offices of Yes! Employment Services, and recently helped establish the Carriage Hills Resort Marketing & Call Centre in the downtown core as well.

Dave Mendicino
Councillor, City of North Bay
Dave Mendicino is a second term Councillor who chairs the Community Services Committee of Council. He also sits on the boards for the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority, the Downtown Improvement Area, the Planning Advisory Committee, and the Almaguin-Nipissing Travel Association. He is a mortgage consultant with Mortgage Alliance Company of Canada and previous to that spent 20 years with TD Canada Trust. He was born and raised in North Bay. In 1992 he made a quality of life decision to move back to the city. He served as president of the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce for 2 years, is a member of the Davedi Club and the Kiwanis Club, and is a coach in minor hockey.

Al Lang

Al has served on the DIA Board since 1990.

Al is a member of the Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA). He has been the Manager of Accounting in the Financial Services Department at the City of North Bay since 1985. This position includes accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, banking, grants, and accounting services for all City departments and some Local Boards. Prior to this position Al has had 14 years experience with a KPMG, a public accounting firm.

Jeff Serran
Executive Director
DIA
Jeff is a lifetime resident of North Bay, being raised and schooled in our city. He previously worked in social services in the downtown core. Jeff also has many years management in the retail field. Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge, ideas and enthusiasm to the team and looks forward to building upon the community atmosphere in the heart of North Bay.
